Without wanting to sound too female - the red one

Well, from a money point of view I imagine too, that the red one is best.

For me, to look cool, the Pontiac - I'd be too worried about the others breaking if I pressed on a bit....

But then I want a General Lee and a Starsky and Hutch Torino.....

I prefer the hard top E types, don't like the early SL's - the pagoda roof one is my fav.

And I've never really got the DB5 thing, despite Mr Bond, who was best in a white Esprit...... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

I had the fortune to have a friend offer to take me to the Three Counties Showground last weekend for a meeting of the "crusty club” Ahem...... Sorry, a classic car show...

He came and picked me up in a S1 E Type semi lightweight convertible with a racing detachable hard top...

So, for those of you that don’t know, I’m really NOT into classic cars! Sure, if they are sentimental? Your dads car etc etc then yes, i understand... or one of the lucky few that are guarantee’d to be making profit yearly then again... Understood

But dressing up, slipping into another dimension No, i dont understand (apologies to all the members on here who do no offence meant!)

So, 8am and my chariot arrives!, pop myself in 5 mins later I managed it and we were off...

WOW WOW WOW What a fantastic little car... We shot up the M5 keeping up with traffic (if not slightly above their speed) and it felt very safe & modern! Not at all what i expected...

“So, why an E Type” i asked as we travelled, it was explained that at the time of this purchase, the Aston DB?(5or6 which ever is worth less) was on the cards too but the technology used to produce his current car was lightyears ahead so he opted for this one...

So there we are... My mindset has been changed about some “crusty’s” Ahem sorry Classic's

Mmmm, toss-up between the Aston and the E-Type for me - probably the E-Type, given that its a rag top

I had the pleasure of driving a 4.2 Series II E-Type coupe last year and feel completely in love with it for many reasons.

However, the car in Gary's post is the convertible and not the coupe, which I much prefer on looks and so the Jaguar is out.

Because the E-Type is so accomplished and such good value by comparison, I see little value in the Aston and so that's out.

The Gullwing is nice but pales, again, next to the Jaguar, in my view.

The 250 has the looks, pedigree, engine and I gather is rather good to drive. Plus it's never going to lose money. But would you want to use it? It'd terrify me. The 250 and £5,000,000 in the bank and then I'd choose it.

So I'd take the T/A. It's the most affordable and still has sublime looks and decent performance (especially if it's got the 455 SD engine) and won't cost much to run. You can therefore enjoy it all of the time.

However, the rub for me is my own Mach 1. Assuming it could actually happen, the T/A may not be that much different from a car I already own and completely adore. That considered, I'd then take the Gullwing. Si. <This is my name.

The 1970-74 Trams Am is a cool car these days...

The problem I have with all of these is that I do not think they are worth the money they are trading for nowadays, I'd also be too frightened to drive them..

Would choose the DB or Merc if push came to shove though... Love the 250 but not the ownership costs. Regards
