Aye I know John, but how cool would that be when done. Never be worth what a full restoration would cost, would be cool as a full on broadspeed replica.

Yes I loved it when I was a kid - kinda spoiled my memory seeing it again like that. Never meet your heroes. Howard

12 grand for that junky old crock?? Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

It's not as if it's an ex-Bond Aston FFS. it's a snotty old 70's Jag with a hugely inefficient engine, BL build quality, a really nasty bodykit and would cost more than a King's ransom to restore. Its only plus point is it has a heritage from a 2nd rate TV show which would make it worth about the same as an Emmerdale prop.

Even as a normal version of the XJ-C, which is rare, it only has rarity value and they didn't build a lot for some very good reasons.

If it had been Purdey's MG, in mint condition, complete with a suitable modern day replica of Joanna as a plaything.......maybe.

I agree. Never meet your heroes.

Cool car. Always wanted a 2 door XJ. Here is a link to the Car Movie Database, where you can see original pics:

those old xjc's are getting expensive even in standard form, added a little tv status, and its sort of reralisticley priced. -especially as its it's probably destined for a tv car museum.
i remember an episode, where there was a racing driver, that went out on a practice lap, and i think he had either a bomb on board or no brakes, and John Steed hopped in the jag, -roared off, and caught him up, and sort of 'tapped him on the helmet' with his umbrella.

'i say, pull over, my dear friend,' in a sort of Terry Thomas style smile...

Were you out ploughing in a blue tractor the other week Jim, one of the fields beside the Arbroath road? If so why didn't you wave back, the wee man in the back was awfy excited at seeing a big tractor! Mr. Green Although you were probably half a mile away didn't help!
