State of Diff and Transfer box oils.

Having introduced myself earlier, I would like to add that as a result of reading about the warnings from CTC about changing these oils, I decided to do mine. The oil from the rear diff was filthy,the front not much better. Both had accumulations on the magnets. Transfer box oil looked OK . I was very surprised at the state of the diff oils, esp given the mileage the vehicle has covered , very glad I have changed them. Good warning advice from CTC. Regards , Simon.

What was the mileage ?

Sounds like a good job you did them when you did - a good warning for others.

Mileage was just under 42,000 when I did them.

Shocked wow - I wouldn't have ever thought of changing the that early - but I guess for the relatives low cost involved, it makes sense.

My L405 is mid 30's & you've got me thinking.....
