What model? My 2011 AB with the TFT screen appeared to do nothing when you move the dimmer but in the dark it does actually dim it ever so slightly. "On first name terms with my local Dealer......now."

Yep, noticed the same. And as above its appears to have a light sensor which only dimmed it when it's dark. spent ages rolling it back and forwards..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

This might be a reach but I had a Jag XKR a few years ago that needed to have the headlights in manual rather than auto and the steering column adjuster (I know, random or what…) set to manual too. Then the dash brightness dimmer worked.
