So do we know if it was 1,000,000 inclding sales of the RRS or 1,000,000 of the FFRR ?
Have to say In my opinion the RRS is a Range Rover in name only. 2021 P400 Silicon Silver AB

Jez, I would guess it includes the impersonator Laughing (RRS). But this is only my thought and happy to be corrected if anyone knows for certain.

Land Rover's News Site wrote:
London, November 4 - Land Rover is celebrating the production of its one millionth Range Rover by donating the vehicle to Help for Heroes.

The landmark one millionth vehicle, a Range Rover Autobiography in ultimate black, has been built at the Solihull manufacturing plant, where three generations of the Range Rover have been built since June 1970.

Land Rover employees joined Alan Volkaerts, Solihull Manufacturing Director and Land Rover's Managing Director Phil Popham to celebrate the milestone event in Range Rover's fortieth year. The one millionth Range Rover was driven by Phil Popham to London to deliver the car to Help for Heroes. He was followed from Solihull to London by a convoy of heritage Range Rovers, driven by their enthusiastic owners.

The handover took place on the Top Gear Live set at Earls Court in London where Jeremy Clarkson – who is a Help for Heroes patron - took delivery of the one millionth Range Rover on behalf of the charity.

“Land Rover is very proud to support the Help for Heroes charity by donating the one millionth Range Rover. The vehicle will be auctioned later this year and should raise valuable funds for the practical and direct provision of aid for wounded service people and their families,” said Phil Popham, MD Jaguar Land Rover.

“Everyone involved in Land Rover - from the management, to the employees at Solihull, to the original Range Rover team - will be happy we’re able to mark this landmark occasion in such a way after the forty years of producing this iconic vehicle.”

The Range Rover being donated is the highest-specification model currently available, the Range Rover Autobiography, valued in excess of £85,000. Estimates suggest it will raise over £100,000 for charity when auctioned later this year.

“We’re delighted that Land Rover has chosen to give Help for Heroes their millionth Range Rover,” said Bryn Parry, CEO and Co-founder of Help for Heroes. “This is a real milestone in their history and so a very special donation, made even more special by knowing the money raised from the car will be able to provide much needed funds to help our wounded heroes on their road to recovery

One of the most significant vehicles in the history of motoring, the Range Rover was the world's first vehicle as good on-road as off-road. It remains Land Rover’s flagship model, peerlessly blending comfort, luxury, design, technology and versatility in one highly-accomplished package.

There have been three generations of Range Rover. The original, now known as the Classic, went on sale in 1970 and continued in production, with numerous upgrades and a multiplicity of variants, for just over 25 years.

The second-generation vehicle, known as the P38a, went on sale in 1994 and was replaced in 2001 by the current model. Further enhancements over the last decade have ensured the Range Rover retains its position as on the world's most complete luxury vehicles.

During 2005, the Range Rover Sport was introduced, adding a sport tourer SUV to the Range Rover line-up, which instantly became a sales success, selling over 300,000 vehicles over the past six years. Next year a third model with join the Range Rover line-up, the all-new Range Rover Evoque.

I guess that makes it 700,000 Classic, P38a and L322 in 40 years (17,500 units pa) and then 300,000 Sport in 6 years (50,000 units pa) or 25,000 pa for all models over 40 years.

Sorry Purists - Please excuse the attached video that shows a Sport - but there is a happy ending if you follow the link and watch Part2!

Infact - why hasn't Top Gear ever a done a full report on the L322 Range Rover - they always seem to make regular complimentary references to them, always use them as camera tracking vehicles and each own one but have never really shown its full worth as they have once said "...all the car you could ever want..."

Maybe on the next series Whistle

I'm sure they did a road test on the MY10 5.0 Supercharged FFRR last series - it was white or silver, Clarkson did it. They got all excited about the DVD/Nav screen with split view. Confused .

Yep, you're right, I remember it myself now. They didn't take it around the track though did they? Would have been interesting to see what time it posted. Steve

Confused I don't remember it if they did...

...I do remember them mentioning the dual screen and the styling of the 2010MY (where they coined the phrase Waynge Rover) during their new car news section of the show.

I also remember a few years ago a short clip when they threw an Overfinch 540 specced L322 around the outside of their track, racing some modern sports saloon which remained on the tarmac - that was quite impressive.

As I already mentioned they stated that the Range Rover TDV8 'was all the car you could ever want' when they were doing the end of season TopGear Award Show when announcing the finalists for Car of the Year / Decade, and before finally giving the prize to the Bugatti Veyron.

What I am after is a decent ten minute set piece that focuses on the later L322 Range Rover model on-road and off-road review with all the Clarkson 'in the wurrld' trimmings etc.

Like I said - by all accounts each of the presenters own one and they are always using Range Rovers as camera/filming vehicles when on location - but unfortunately as the recent few series has developed and the items they seem to concentrate on now focuses on Censored around in cars and being comical, or barnstorming foreign parts in cars few of us get to see (let alone own) - its all very funny and appealing to us young men (& women) who are like minded but none of it really lets you know anymore than we already knew.

Neutral I'm expecting a bit too much really - arn't I? Rolling Eyes

Despite bumping into forum member TGT (Roland) at a garage near LPR and saying hello to him last summer - the site hasn't heard much from him in recent months, hopefully he is well and all is ok with his FFRR
(& hopefully he is busy producing another series of TopGear / TGLive Show)
