Trans Failsafe Prog - 2004 RR 4.4

Hi Guys,

Occasionally I get the dreaded 'Trans failsafe Prog' flash up when the car is started from cold and gear is selected.

I only occasionally have this message directly after starting the car when it is cold and usually after backing out of my driveway and shifting from D to R it will go into D with a thump then the message will display, it has never happened whilst driving, or when the car is warm.

It can always be cleared by turning ignition off and restarting, but I would like to get it resolved as do not want to case further harm to the transmission.

Have any of you guys experienced a similar issue? 2004 4.4 Autobiography - gone

A failing inhibitor switch or low battery voltage would be my guess. It would be worth checking if a P0705 error is stored in the controller.

I have heard that allowing the car to go through it's electronic checks before actually starting the engine can help solve spurious messages.

Turn ignition on, watch all the various lights go out (there are a couple that stay on, start engine, hopefully no more nasty's. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged
