That's before the Feds get at them for criminal charges, every state might push for state damages, and all the consumer and corporate class action lawsuits. Cant see VW surviving. Graham

There is something that doesn't ring true with me about the whole thing , Were VW's engines particularly powerful or efficient compared to say Toyota's or Opal ? no not so you'd notice . Do VW make their own electronics and ECU's ? no they buy them in from Bosch or Denso or whoever , you just program them for your particular engine . And finally it's pretty much an open secret that emissions results were a crock compared to the real world . So either absolutely everyone has been at it and not one living soul let the cat out of the bag or VW are literally the worst engineers ever .

There is more to this to come I'm sure , there is a strong willingness to misunderstand diesels right now and I think I can hear an axe being ground . 2008 MY Supercharged

I think VW will survive. This is nothing like the Ford Pinto scandal.

I think the only ones that will get away with it is ones that use an actual additive in the fuel system to help purge the DPF and even they may be on shakey ground.

TBH i think every diesel maker is at it.

I couldn't understand the MOT thing i saw on the news the other day as its well known most cars in the last few years have static reduced rev limiters. Its like cheap Launch Control just with no power when you want to launch

Its not like i've never bodged the accelerator pedal on any of my old diesels to not let them rev past 3k or anything in the past

And surely such software would be quite complex as they run it through a simulated drive of sorts dont they so its not static with the wheels not moving IIRC.

My betting is that its setup in such a way that power is pulled right back with fuelling to do it.

Porsche group will survive but im waiting until the actual fine amounts are announced before i plump up for some VAG shares as they will slowly rebound back to what they were afterwards and then it will be a good day to cash out. I had the Audi in for an MOT a couple of weeks ago, it was hooked up to the gas analyser for the emissions test, the analyser couldn't detect any fumes so another bit of kit was brought in and connected to the car, still nothing to be detected and after a lot of faffing around the tester gave up and said it had passed

John i think your driving must fall into the 'government testing' style and thats why your exhaust is so clean :p

Personally i think the shares will go as low as 90p when the penalties start hitting them 90p each.

A few years ago they were 77p a share and their high was 235ish so its not too hard to imagine. I can't help but wonder how other big manufacturers are appearing to reach the EPA figures when the huge resources and pot of money that VAG has can't and has had to "frig" it.

Wonder how their other engines will fair that are diesel? surely if they have done it on the 1.6/2.0 then the 3.0 and v10 will be the same and dont they do a smaller 1.4 diesel as well.... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's
