My friend bought a RRS HST last month.....

It was in the Dealers last week to have a seat motor replaced and wheel alignment sorted...

Then on Sunday, he couldn't get the EPB to release... I turned up, removed the trim etc. and pulled the emergency release cable but it still wouldn't release.

Land-Rover assist were called, couldn't get the EPB to release either so the car was taken back to the Dealer.

They took 3 days to identify the problem as a warped disc, and have said they will only replace the disc and pads on one side...?

Am I correct in thinking they should be replacing discs and pads on both sides of the car...?

He asked them to replace both sides but they have said he will be charged for 1 disc, 1 set of pads and labour...

Surely, they should be claiming for both sides, as it is a LR Approved Car with 1 year Warranty, I've told him to contact LR Customer-service, do you think he should....?

I'v had this happen to me with a cracked caliper and Land rover refused to pay for the new disks and pads on the no-cracked side ,what is even more galling was that I had just replaced the discs and pads a month before. Seams to be standard practice on LR approved warranties  2008 MY Supercharged

You can bet your last dollar that if you had your FFRR in for brake maintenance and were paying for it out of your own pocket, the dealership would insist on both sides being replaced

Being realistic though... Discs don't come in matched pairs so if you've put new discs / pads on a month or so previously and have an issue which damages one of them, why would you replace them both?

Recommended practice is to do all of this kind of work in pairs but that is probably based on the potential for the old "one" being very different condition from the new "one" or because you may buy a replacement that is different material from the other one.

So, in the case where the original discs are near as dammit new, just replace one and consider fitting an axle set of pads. However, if the "old" disc surface is "as new", I'd have a look at the pads and may even use the original pads again on the new disc.

Maybe I should have pushed this point but the Stealers said Land Rover were paying for a new Caliper disk and pads on one side and earned the privilege of paying for the disk and pads on the other but not the labor to fit them , small mercies I guess. 2008 MY Supercharged

Just a quick update....

LR Customer services still haven't returned his call.... So, he has stumped up £123.00 for another disc & set of pads and got the car back this morning....
