service

Has anyone taken out Land Rover Service Plans? I know a lot of you, judging by your posts, do most servicing yourselves, however, am just curious as to whether it is worth considering as a lot of people just name the main dealers as stealers!!

Thank you in advance!

I have a service plan with Hunters; £53 per month covering all standard items specified in the service schedule (oil service, inspection 1, inspection 2) including brake fluid, but excluding items such as diff oil. (they also replaced the heated/cooled seat filters).

Harwoods offer an even cheaper plan for cars over three years old at £429 per year including brake fluid and MOT.

They both use genuine LR parts.

I had mine serviced last month by Hunters who did a fine job. I think these plans offer very good value for money if you want a Land Rover service history. I guess the issue is that as your car ages and they start to find items that need replacing/repairing, then you would face the astronomic cost of main dealer hourly rates!

Yes, but there is no compulsion to have the "other items" fixed by LR dealer. Take it to an Indy with the list of problems. And get them to sort it.

Another way of cutting costs whilst maintaining a FLRSH is to buy the oil and parts and just get the dealer to quote for labour. It works out quite reasonable cost wise, the oils are the main cost, though not exactly cheap from motor factors they tend to be extortionate from dealers! An oil service is basically just that, so what is the point in paying top whack. If you read the service schedule most of the other stuff on an oil is checking and cleaning. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
