3 Sources of Squeaky Interior! | |
Hi All,
I am trying to invest a lot of time in removing the various squeaks and creaks from the cabin of my 2002 Range Rover as it's the only thing which is letting down an otherwise immaculate and perfect vehicle. I have managed to silence a fair number of them using adhesive pads and anti-rattle tape, however there are three left which are defeating me...
1. Squeaky boot area - I originally thought this was the parcel shelf but tried driving with that removed and the squeak continues. I've applied anti-rattle tape to various areas within the boot trim (although not the tailgate itself yet) and still find that over bumps on the road I get an annoying metal squeaking sound from somewhere in the boot...
2. Rattling sunroof blind - Somewhere in the area that houses the sunroof cover (when it's open) there something plastic or metal rattling around when on bumpy roads. It can normally be silenced (for a few miles) but adjusting the position of the sunroof cover, or closing it completely. I've tried removing the plastic cover on the roof (where the internal roof lights are) but can't identify the cause...
3. Dashboard top squeak - Another mousey squeak, this time it's from the leather dashboard top (or its contact with the main dashboard). If I use my wrists and push the dashboard up towards the windscreen (creating a gap between the actual dash and the leather top) it mutes the squeak. I've actually removed the whole dash top and put soft anti-rattle tape along the whole edge of the dash top, over the top of the wood trims and navigation screen etc but it continues to squeak...
If anybody is able to give me and clues or help point me in the right direction on my mission to find a quiet ride, I'd be eternally grateful.
Thank you,
