After repairing the instrument cluster ribbon cable the front wipers, door locks (remote key or dash mount button) and bottom tailgate release are not working. Front washer is working but not the rear. Any clues? I only disconnected the negative battery cable when removing the instrument cluster and not the positive. Should I do a full battery disconnect to reset or did I fry a BCU? |

I did a full battery disconnect for about 45 min. No change. |

Don't know how one can not plug the cluster in right. Those cam locking tabs make it a go or no go plug in. I checked fuses for wipers and they are good. I'm assuming its a common cause so didn't check the other fuses but I will. I'm assuming this is the universe's way if saying " order your IIDTOOL". Untill the wipers are fixed I'm parked because my inspection (MOT) is past due.

You won't regret getting one... Id check the plugs, the little metal pins can get fractionally bent when you pull the connector off and then get flattened and not connect when you pug it back in, they are so fine, you won't feel any resistance when squashing them.. Happened to a mate with a BMW, spent a fortune then found out it was just a bent pin.... Pete

HAYLANDS, which pin connectors do you mean? The OBDII or BCM? |

Weejock are you talking about the connections to the instrument cluster? Do these get bent yet allow the cam lock connectors to stll lock? I need to take apart the dash anyway to replace all the cluster bulbs with new ones. Had 1 bad one and figure the rest could start to go. |

You need to check both sets of connections, BCU and Instrument Pack. It's just easier to check the fuses and BCU under the seat first and see if that cures it. If it doesn't then you need to strip the dash down and check the IP connections.

Thanks will check that first since I'm changing the bulbs. Probably do a video of the cluster removal too. |

So far all fuses good. Pulled cluster and rechecked connections and all were good. Will check BCM today but I highly doubt it will make a change. I don't see how anyone short of Godzilla could insert the connectors wrong and bend one of those pins.

Would of had it fixed on Friday but fedex or LRdirect screw up with customs. Had to explain what it was because of the Bluetooth. A US/Mexico border like Swiss cheese and they worry about Bluetooth. |

Joy in the Beast! Yes it was in transport mode. Also about 40 other fault codes I will sort out later. Probably old stuff. |
