I've just noticed that my passenger side step is also not fully retracting. Tried pulling fuse F61 to reset but it made no difference.

That's exactly what's happened to us.... we "tried" using the fuel burning heater a couple of months ago and ended up with a flat battery ! We managed to get it up running again when we called the AA man out and everything seemed ok up until we recently went away for a week and left the car in the airport car park. We came back to another flat battery and the inevitable call to the AA. After he got us jump started yet again, he told us (like on here) to invest in a battery conditioner (he recommended a different one which escapes me) in the meantime, he took us to a landrover dealer and we left the car overnight to have our battery checked and recharged as its an AGM battery. Since this has been done the side step seems to be working ok up to now he says "touching wood". Landrover told us that the car isn't getting a long enough run which is true as my wife only takes it to work and shopping which are only mile trips. So it looks like Im going to get one of those battery charger/conditioners and plug it in once a week like the AA man/Landrover man said. |

That's useful to know - I may invest in a decent charger. Costco have a Ring 8A smart charger for under £40 at the moment.

Just make sure if you've got an AGM battery then the charger needs to be AGM compatible. |

Mine seems to have cured itself after a long drive. I think it must be a battery issue. I've switched off the auto interior lights, which might have helped protect the battery voltage (there are a lot of lights in this car!) |

I am also having the same issue with the passenger side step. It does seem to go in once the car picks up a little speed. The dealer will be taking the car in next week, so will keep you informed. 2011 5.0SC Santorini Black

I see your location as South Yorkshire, have you tried Maltings in Westwoodside?. They are my local indie and sorted my deployable step problem out in no time. |

Sorry for a thread hijack, but my passenger side step is making quite a grinding noise. I'm going to grease all the moving parts again to see if it improve but after reading the comment above I'm wondering if it could be the motor itself. Is it common for the motor to start grinding? Can anything be done to fix it or is it a new motor? Thanks Adam |

Was this problem ever resolved. I have exactly the same problem on my passenger side step. It goes in half way and then comes back out. If I help it it will go all the way back. Any ideas folks? |

Exactly the same problem I had. Mine turned out to be damaged wiring into the motor, an easy fix. |
