Agree with Graeme (tongue in cheek obviously)! Always curious too when reading similar enquiries from people thinking about buying an L405... And one person with an L405 went to the trouble of being able to write this helpful fuel consumption overview: "In its first ten months my TDV6 L405 has averaged a true 28.5 mpg. Lowest between brim-ups of premium diesel is 24.6 mpg for local "pottering". Highest is 33.1 for couple of hundred miles of steady motorway consumption test c.70 mph. Never place too much faith in the onboard computer but I suspect lowest fuel consumption on motorways is about 60-65 mph, although happy to be corrected! At 80 mph plus, consumption escalates dramatically That's a long way from the quoted figures of Combined 37.7 - Urban 33.2 - Extra Urban 40.4..." Didn't think people spending that much on a car would be bothered Back on topic... The difference in price for tax between pre and 2007 onwards SC's would surely be outweighed by the fact that the 2007> is a revised model, benefiting from equipment that includes Terrain Response? |

That's true. But if you found yourself looking at two 2006 cars, it's worth knowing when the tax bands changed. I mean if you have two otherwise identical cars for a similar price but one is £500 a year tax and the other is £290 you'd be crazy to pick the £500 one. |

FWIW. & IIRC. The actual date of change was the 23 March 2006. i.e all '55' plate and earlier are lower (£290/yr) tax. 1st - 22nd March, (06) plate are also £290/yr tax 23 March onwards £490/505?
