Can somebody tell me what the tyre pressures should be for a 2003 FFRR Petrol V8? My owners manual is in German and there are a few figures given but I cannot translate the information given next to them. I checked the workshop manual in the WIKI but there are no details given. I looked at a website and it said they were 33psi front and 36psi rear. When I went to the garage, it defaults to bar and when I checked the front tyres they were 2.50 and 2.40 and the rears were 2.80. this is far higher than the bar equivalents of the psi figures given above which were 2.30 for the fronts and 2.60 for the rears.

The car is driven on a mixture of tarmacked roads with extreme potholes and untarred roads with minor rutting - not bad enough to have to engage low range and raise the suspension. However, as we have now entered the heavy rainy season (I'm in Cameroon, West Africa) although I believe the UK is already in the rainy season (!?!), do the tyre pressures change if I have to use low range on rare occasions? There are usually just two adults and a small dog travelling in the car with top speed around 60-70mph if we're feeling brave enough...

My 2004 322 4.4 on 19" wheels was recommended to run at front 34 psi and rear 36. The range of recommended pressures varied according to load and whether the car was towing a trailer, from 34 to 36 front and 36 to 44 rear.

If you want to have the German translated you could post on here what it says and I will try to tell you the English equivalent (assuming it is not too long). My 2004 car had a sticker on the frame of the driver door with psi and bar recommendations plus symbols of numbers of people etc in the car to match, I take it yours does not have that and the handbook does not use these graphics.

Low ratio would not make any difference. On soft ground, depending on what sort of tyres you have, you might run lower pressures to get additional traction, eg going over sand dunes, beaches, mud, but you would get rather heavy steering and greater wear on tyre edges if that is done for general road use. Only Range Rovers since 1988

My ffrr is a 2003 and the book says that the tire pressures should be -

Front 33psi /2.3bar normal

Rear 36psi /2.5bar normal


Front 36psi/2.5bar full load

Rear 44psi/3.0bar full load Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

That's the space saver spare, they always have a high pressure to make up them being so narrow.

@Pete, those tyres sizes in that label pic are incorrect, 235?

Look like it to me, but the important bit is the diameter in that pic really.

235/65R18 is the winter tyre size.

Yeah it runs from the beginning of January to the end of December every year.

space saver spare? mine's the same size as all the others, thought that all ffrr's were like that and the poxy space savers were for the disco wannabe's.

I think some of them had space savers, probably SE's i expect.

I've only seen them with full size spares, but i only looked at Vogues and above, when i was buying, they all seemed to have full size spares as standard.

Parts catalogue lists a space saver emergency spare from 06MY onwards.
