Thanks Stan,
I was wondering if mine might have been done before I purchased it, but no mention of it in service book.

Stan,

A little annoying that the LR dealer(s) cannot be bothered to enter such important information in the owner' s service record book when there is space provision at the back of the book to do exactly that!

I take my car in tomorrow for the brake hoses to be replaced in accordance with the DVSA recall notice (and Ryan's assurances) despite that it states in the letter I received from LR customer service that the dealer will only inspect them and replace 'if necessary' !

AND I will insist that the dealer enters the fact in the service record book.

I'm pretty sure they will replace them as a matter of course, mine on my 2012 were changed, and they looked fine to my eye beforehand. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

The recall action will be recorded on Land-Rover's central database. You can always just write in the details of the recall yourself.

when they say inspect the vehicle, i think they really mean check if it falls with-in the vin range the recall affects. If it's a safety recall they're being compelled to do it by the DVSA anyway. If the VIN is in range, they'll just change them. I mean imagine the consequences if they had a look, said they look ok, then you go down the road and your brakes fail - they're not going to want that liability.

Zirconblue,

Sounds logical doesn't it - but if the 'inspection' is simply to check if one's car falls within the VIN range affected by the recall why do I get letter from LR quoting the registration number of my car AND the VIN which clearly states the hoses will only be replaced if an inspection deems that to be necessary?

Since they obviously know the VIN of my car, don't you think they would have checked that little matter before sending that letter? Smile

I'm afraid this whole issue of P054 has been badly handled by LR from the start - the issue of the recall only in the US in January and denial that it applied to the UK despite the suspect hoses being identical in both markets before, months later, conceding that it would now apply to the UK. Then the contradictory wording of the LR recall letter when the DVSA announcement was clear -the front brake hoses WOULD be replaced, no 'ifs' no 'buts'.

Could do better LR - but we love you really! Smile

I had to insist on getting a record of the recall work done. "Its in our system" doesn't help if you end up doing a private sale. Current:
