Just North of Caen on the way to the coast by Pegasus Bridge in Benouville, there is a hotel called Manoir Hastings, its a run down two star from Repbulics gone by and not up to much, however the restaurant can be outstadning, 14 course tasting menu, good wine and not too expensive, but it can be hit and miss depending on the mood of the Chef. Just over the road is La Glycine, much more consistant but a little more expensive (hey you run a FFRR so all things are relative) but that can get busy and needs booking.

While since we stayed in it but found Le Cheval Blanc at Caudebec en Caux very good.
