2015 Range Rover Vogue SE SDV8 Barolo Black
Back to black?

Was going to give the new girl a good clean this weekend, but before I got going noticed the plastic on c pillars that support the floating have really tiny scratches, looks like someone has had a go at them with something a little too abrasive.

Seam to remember that you could get something called back to black or similar for buffing up plastics on older cars.

Has anyone else used this sort of thing, or is there a better alternative?

Peanut butter?

Wow, thanks fella, I'll give it a go and hope I don't draw any looks from the neighbours! __________________

I think the peanut butter solution needs to be repeated quite often. I've always used AGlym Bumper care gel on A-D posts plus around door windows etc - looks deep black and lasts.

T-cut, tooth paste, peanut butter. Any kind of mild abrasive will polish plastic.

Back to black, was just a black polish for covering up faded black plastic bumpers and the like - there are better products out there now.

For my roof post trims i just used the autoglym super resin polish it comes up well. But don't use it on mirrors and other textured plastics.

Unfortunately, the peanut butter didn't really lift the scratches (and I felt like a pillock) I can see how it would work with water stains etc as it defiantly cleans.

Got for the autogylm bumpber product as it was the one forum members mentioned that was in stock at Halfords - ta Ajac8. Also got the polish zircon blue suggested as it was 3 for 2. Will have another attempt tomorrow.

+1 for the AG Bumper Care (it's a green paste and makes black plastic look like new again!)

If you have lots of squirrels in your area, you might not want to use the Peanut Butter option as you might get more scratches than you bargained for haha. Dan

Again, I think the heat gun solution is not as permanent as you might like.

SWMBO had an old TT front grill go grey - heat gun turned it nice and black again (for about 2 months!!) Whistle 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus
