Viscous Fan Spanners, Anyone tried this ?

Hi all, I was just smurffing the web, plotting and scheming, when I stumbled on this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2pc-Viscous-Fan-...27fb70b11a

And wondered if any of you have had any experience of such a tool, and is it worthy of of praise or Censored Censored

Looks OK to me, but looks possibly a bit small between the jaws on the pulley locking tool, thoughts........ Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!

Don't think it will work, you have to get inside the pulley to get to the bolts, it would need to be cranked in just the right place to work... I've got one I made if you want to borrow it, but I'm away till next weekend now.... Pete

Hi pete,
When you back, it would be great if you could bring us a picture of the two keys to the front and side with a ruler so we can have the dimensions and shapes.
He who is equipped might make!

Very Happy
Good day to all.

My big adjustable spanner opened wide enough (36mm) and was able to get down and undo the nut. Ed

the spanner it's self isn't difficult to source, the fan spanners you buy are for other cars where access is difficult and they only have a thin nut. Any old 36mm spanner will do, i just used a 36mm combination spanner, they work better than the fan spanners.

The difficult bit is holding the water pump pulley while you undo/tighten the nut. I managed the jamb the bolts on mine with a pry bar, but it's not pretty.

Clearly: It does not!
It is not difficult ... when we have one!
Too bad because I prefer an image at 1000 words!
