welcome to the fold TIM [nearly ]...you could get loads of suggestions of what to get or not, but my advice is to have a very good read of as many past posts on this forum as possible..there is an enormous amount of info here with valid opinions from those who have a FFRR....good luck on your search and i'm sure you will pick the right one.... ... - .- -.

If I'm correct the rr 2005 ones had a facelift etc. Is it best to go for one of them or are the pre 05 models still as good. There seems to be a lot of pre 05 ones available at decent prices. Should be an interesting search as the wife wants a rrs but to be honest I ain't to keen on them so gonna have to go on a lot of test drives. I've actually seen a stunning supercharged rr vogue so I may just take a trip and view it

06 had the facelift - 05 was a bit of an in-between version with some bits from the later cars (such as the the touch screen nav and Jag V8 ) with bits from the earlier (the TD6 driveline). 05 had the same headlights as the 02-04 models, tho.

Bear in mine 06 has the full facelift, but it's the 06 model year. So they started making them from around September 2005 on a 55 plate. They are good looking cars and look the same as the later ones outside until 2010 model year.

IIRC when a new model year is due to come on stream the first cars start rolling along the production line as build mules for the guys working on the line to practise on in July, the model year appears in the showrooms end of September and dealers can put them on the road end of October. If you ever get the chance to do a Home of the Legend factory visit take it, it is a fascinating day out watching L322 / RRS and D4 start out as a sheet of steel in the body press shop and follow it right through to a completed car rolling off the end of the line - there is only one part of the build process you don't get to see - the paintshop, but you see the body in white complete with bonnet/doors/tailgate disappear at one end and come out coloured into the finishing shop where they promptly remove the hinged bits to another line where miraculously they meet up with the right car with all the right trim for the spec at the end of the line! Then you get a nice lunch and spend the afternoon driving something nice around the Jungle Track and the factory's private LRE. You also often get to see prototypes in the factory grounds - last I went we were shown an experimental V12 L322 with an Aston Martin engineered power unit (wonder what happened to that?) being towed round the grounds between departments by a forklift truck, we also saw a whole lot of pre production but final design RRS waiting for Quality Control inspection at the end of the production line - the car wasn't launched for another 12 months! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes |

Exactly the same requirements i had, and i have just got myself a facelifted one for less than 20k after looking at about 12 different cars . I'm amazed how abused some of them get. The 2006 Model facelift i've just bought was first registered in July 2005, so is an 05 reg. I did initially wonder if it had had new lights, but it has the reverse camera and the different EAS switch, plus the 2006 wheels. I'm sure they were available around May 2005 onwards, even though they are called the 2006 model. Pick mine up on Sat, pics to follow then. Andy |
