If Land Rover was your business, your opnion

Guys/Gals

I know a lot of us run our own businesses and know the need for customer service, I was wondering... if you ran your after sales the way LR do, would you be in business in 12 months time. Thumbs Up

Thanks Mr Tee, I am at odds as to why we keep buying inferior products from a non customer centric organisation. I was looking at it today from a business perspective and would not buy anything from them, BUT I buy the bloody things, it is obviously an emotional purchase and I should move Thumbs Up

The reason for the post is that having been at a few LR dealerships over the last couple of days and being asked to leave my deatails 'as the sales guys are busy'. Bloody hell, I have been successfully in sales for too many years and am sick of their attitude..... anyway new thread I think Thumbs Up

You've highlighted the main "problem" - we buy on emotion and use that to convince our "head" that its the right thing to do.

If we were all pragmatists, there is no way you'd be in a RR or any LR product, and for the vast majority of us we wouldn't be in any large inefficient 4WD Whistle

CeeGee, thats exactly my point, if it was a business purchase you wouldn't do it so yes, its head and heart, however where do we go??? I need a vehicle with offroad capability, space for horse carp and ability to tow 2700/3000 KG. so what am I left with? Most RR owners are not in this position i.e. they dont have the needs....oh god i have lost the will now, LandCruiser, defender? What else is there that is more/less unreliable Rolling with laughter

Green Oval disease. 'Tis a very bad thing. Incurable too by all accounts.

Arrogance and complacency born of

A) people's desire to have the latest status symbol
B) idiots like us who are prepared to put up with indifference and downright reluctance to provide anything approaching a pleasant and professional experience.

Would I buy any other car? No!

There's your answer Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

But why do we do it ?? that my question, it is not rational, I am getting Censored off with it to the point of leaving as a primary vehicle would rather drive my daughters clio than this heap of junk and thats from a 20 year LR chap

I would say the reason for me - No other 4x4 or (4x4 type) has the comfort, style, presence and attitude of the RR. At the other end of the journey you still feel refreshed. 2011 5.0SC Santorini Black

Good to know that here in the USA we are getting treated exactly the same Rolling Eyes . The dealers here, under LRNA (LR North America), have also decided that dealers will sell only to customer in their geographic area, so no price shopping or rewarding the good dealers with your business. When you ask about this policy the dealers say it is a corporate thing, but when you ask customer support they deny any such thing exists.

Sadly, like the rest of you, when I made up my list of what I wanted in my next vehicle, the RR/L405 quickly rose to the top with no competition.

The LR sales people here in the Los Angeles area did not impress. On my first visit to one, on a very quiet Sunday afternoon, the 3 sales people were having a chat and not too happy to stop and help a customer! When I decided to buy, this same dealer would not sign a contract or take a deposit. I was supposed to wait 6 months for a RR just on their word. I later heard why they did this. It allowed them the opportunity to offer the RR to the highest bidder once it came in. Luckily my parents, who live in another state clear across the country, had an indirect relationship with their local LR dealer, who were a very professional and honest group, and they agreed to order one for me. It was delivered to their location and I had to have it shipped to my home.

My local MB and Porsche dealers are the opposite of the LR dealer, with top notch customer support, but sadly none of their cars met my needs/wants. 2015 RR ATB (Scotia Grey w/Cirrus-Ebony)

I have experienced a number of Main Dealers in my time from various marques, you need to be lucky to find a good one and then you need to be lucky to have a good experience with them. I have to say that although pricey MY experience with Hunters (local JLR dealer) has been good, my brother in law who bought a new Freelander from the same dealer will never darken their doorstep again as his experience was unbelievably poor. Very Happy Geoff

My locals always treated me great mind you i'm only ever getting work done or buying spares as I can't justify in my head ever needing to buy a brand new car ,The girls on the reception are always professional and make you tea and coffee if they are going to be longer than two minutes dealing with you ,I went in the other day to book it in for the rear aircon to be looked at as it's not working and they just sat me down with a coffee and newspaper and took it round back and plugged it in to the diagnostics just to check there where no faults,They found one that wasn't related and reset it then I booked it in for a two hour slot and their giving a courtesy car in case I need to go anywhere ,

The parts guys are always helpful with part numbers and paint codes even if i don't buy anything
