I build drones and can recommend if you want a buy and fly go for one of the DJI Phantoms. they are tough as old boots and do what they do very well. I build racing drones that are a totally different kettle of batteries.

Just moved this over from that other thread

Sure, the one in the photo is a DJI Phantom which are the most popular at the moment they range from around £350 to £1100 for the latest one which considering everything you can do with it and the kind of camera equipment it comes with is actually pretty reasonable.

Plenty more out there to choose from for much less though. if there is a local model shop near you pop in and see them they will keep you right. if not check this guy out on you tube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC90A4JdsSoFm1Okfu0DHTuQ
he does reviews on loads of them. £150 should be enough to get you a decent beginner one plus £50-60 for a 1080p HD camera to stick on it, some of the cheaper ones do come with cameras but any drone under £400 the camera on it won't be up to much. Have look at the SYMA X8W, they are supposed to be decent and not too expensive

If you have never flown anything like these before best to get yourself one of the little indoor ones for around £30-40 they are great to learn with and can take a hell of a lot of crashes Thumbs Up Range Rover Vogue 2006 4.4 AJV8 | Buckingham Blue | Parchment Leather | Supercharged Grill+Side Vents | CA02 HEY ( NOT 02 PLATE )

My son has a company using drones for aerial filming - www.fleye.co.uk

Based on my knowledge gleaned from him, if you want a good quality "toy", the Phantom is a great buy, giving you all the functionality you will need inc return to home in the case of a problem Thumbs Up

Be really careful of lower cost options and make sure you really are comparing like with like on the build quality, features and functionality when comparing them.
