Recall moan

2 weeks ago tried to book the car in for the brake hose recall with my nearest LR dealer (Bedford as Stratstone closed their Luton branch a short while ago).
The Bedford dealer had not heard of the recall and refused to book the car in!

I called Stratstone Newport Pagnell - amazing, very helpful lady on the phone booked me in for last Friday (31st) and arranged a loan car.

Last Wednesday a message from the dealer saying they may not be able to do the recall due to them being under consultation for a takeover!
Then on Thursday another call saying they may be able to do it, but would I mind not having a loan car- I agreed
Friday morning (day of the booked repair) a call from them saying they did not have the parts!!!

What pathetic service.

Not sure where to try now....

Call back to Newport Pagnell. Yes, they are being taken over (no names but think of a WW2 Bomber Aircraft that dropped bouncing bombs)

Speak to Richard Roberts. He will get it sorted. Mine's going there for the same thing. Might be a small wait - stock, ordering etc during a takeover is always an issue.

Stratstone Aylesbury is another option. No personal experience there though.

Similar story to one I posted in LR Customer Relations section :-
----------------------------------------------------------
LOL! it gets worse!

Not having received a reply to the message I left with my local LR dealer last week, I called them again this morning to try to arrange for my car to have its front brake hoses replaced in accordance with LR recall P054.

I was informed that they had to order the parts but couldn't start taking any bookings before the third week in August because they are "changing companies" (Now Stratstone, becoming Jardine?). Perhaps that's why they are slow in answering their phones!

Told them not to bother, I will look elsewhere.

My experience appears to be the complete opposite; My 5.0 SC was in Marshalls in Melton Mowbray (Leicestershire) having major surgery, under warranty, and I received the recall letter regarding the front brake hoses.
Aha, I thought, I'll call them and ask them to do it whilst it was there. When I spoke to the extremely efficient young Lady in service reception (we're on first name terms now!) she explained that my registration number had appeared on their LR computer system and they'd already done it, two days ago - and two days before I got the letter. I'm not easily impressed, but I was with this example.
Marshall Land Rover in Melton, very nice (and efficient) people to deal with.
I may get around to detailing the major surgery at some point, but mindful of above, it was not an unpleasant experience at all!

Just had my 2006 RR SC back after it went in for the brake hose recall & body kit exhaust trim finisher recall. No fuss. But the only thing I got back was an inspection list of other problems with the vehicle and cost of repair. No idea whether they did the other jobs or not.

I got my recall notice this morning. As I am pulling the tin tent to the South coast on Saturday I was wanting to get it sorted out ASAP. I took the car to Farnells in Bradford and explained the situation to the young lad on Service reception. The car is booked in for inspection at 08:30 Friday morning and the parts are on order so if mine is affected they can do it there and then. As I am short of time, the health check and vallet won't be done. Expected time for completion is 90 minutes. Let's hope it all goes to plan.

All going to plan so far. The car has been in the workshop for 30 minutes and I have just been informed that the pipes are being changed. Lovely people here- free coffee, soft drinks, ice cream, papers and tv. Oh and being surrounded by luvverly full fats. 😊

Just had mine done at Lancaster, Reading. They completed it in 1 1/2 hours while I drank their tea, ate most of their biscuits and did a bunch of e-mails using their wifi. No complaints. But I didn't think to ask for ice cream.

The opposite for me also, mine fell outside the vin numbers on the PO54 recall by a few cars as far as i could tell. Phoned my local MD and was told it was covered, booked me in within 5 days and both hoses replaced. Interestingly was told that what they do ( Westovers Christchurch ) as par for course is replace regardless of inspection......because sir we do not take brakes to be a minor issue. Had the free health check and no faults, free wash and hoover Very Happy I would recommend this dealer.
