Ruined my alloys - Wonder Wheels

Hi,

I've been struggling to keep my alloys clean here in Abu Dhabi as there are no car wash places you can do it yourself.
The guys that do the washing in the car parks never get them clean.
Anyway, I brought some wonder wheels back from the UK. I've been using it for years with no issues.
I am applying it with a brush and washing it off with a garden pump up sprayer.
I went down this morning to find the paint is coming off all four wheels Big Cry

I think I'll get them powder coated gun metal grey or something like that. Maybe black?

Any UAE residents out there know of a powder coater.

Cheers

If it helps I rarely use that stuff anymore as it is quite caustic and I think it removes any protective layers you apply far too quickly.

By far the best thing I have ever done with my alloys was to apply Poorboys Wheel Sealant. This stuff has been on over a year now and still makes it much easier to clean the wheels just using Meguiars Gold Class car shampoo.

The wheels still get dirty, but the brake dust and dirt doesn't get so ingrained.

If I want to give the wheels a damn good clean I use Gunk in the green tin (bio ethnic bongo version) and spray it on, leave it, brush it, hose it, wash wheel.

Womder wheels and the like is very very harsh stuff, it's only really meant for cleaning off heavy build up.

Once you've got them clean use some kind of sealant on them, even just ordinary car polish if that's all you have, but there are dedicated products as above. Once you've done that, you can just wash the wheels off with car shampoo and a brush so long as you wash it at least every few weeks the brake dust comes off easily.

I'd take photo's of the damage and email their customer service department. The exact same thing happened to a mate of mine a few years ago and they coughed up............

It does of course depend if the wheels had been refurbed before as that finish may not have been good.

I hope this helps?

John

I used a very good wax polish on mine after I had them refurbished, the dirt just rinses off with a hose Thumbs Up Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
