I am considering a gearbox oil change / flush, purely for preventative maintenance. (TD6, mileage 45k).

An old thread I know but I've been following the various discussions on preventative maintenance on the auto box and decided to take the plunge on a full oil / filter change and flush as the cars done 75,000 miles. Spoke to my local main dealer who wasn't interested. Rules is rules and Landrover recommend at 100,000 miles. Spoke to a local independent who I've known for nearly 30 years and he recommended these guys. Booked in next Thursday - cost £ 300 + VAT including new sump pan & filter. They've also told me they might need to replace connector as this is a known source of leaks. |

FF been done and the difference is amazing. The transmissions now whisper quiet and the changes are much slicker. Apparently the gearbox manufacturers recommend a change at 45,000 miles but for some reason Landrover say its not necessary. My oil was like tar & I was told if I'd left it to 100,000 miles I'd probably be looking at a new gearbox! |

Mmm! Mines done about 57,000 miles. How long did you leave your vehicle with them? Previous cars:
