Miles off that man! I usually park the car so close to the van that even with the mirrors folded in on the RR, there's about 1cm clearance against the side of the van, I suppose I do take up 2/3 of the drive space with my car and van, even more if I bring the Mini home. I'll check the specs on the jack too as off hand, I can't remember how high it goes.

Yep, got me too. I'd of thought by lowering it, there would be less suspension travel using up the jacks travel, raising the car would just mean jacking for longer????

One bloke told me to put it in off road height with the hazards on and tailgate open when having one of my tyres resealed, apparently to let the car know it was about to be jacked up.

I have a 48" Farm Jack for my Defender and hate using it as it could slip so easily if not very carefully set up, also FFRR would suffer severe panel damage trying to lift on that style of jack as the lifting leg would have to be right against the panels or the door open, there are also no suitable jacking points on L322 for the "Land Rover" peg that can be fitted to most utility Land Rovers for lifting them by the front or rear of the chassis with a farm jack. The 3t trolley is the best thing if you don't have a garage hoist like 47P2's

When using a trolley jack you should lift as per the workshop manual. There are jacking points on the front and rear subframe in the center.
