5.0 l405....tried one, nice but needed revs and constant kick downs to make decent progress which is somewhat uncouth in a RR in my opinion. Jlr need to go turbo for their petrols imo.

Strange that you feel the need to constantly rev the engine and kick down. Not what I'm experiencing at all.
There's a big difference in lazy D mode and the S mode of the gearbox when you feel in a more sporty mood.
A Diesel powered engine will always have more torque than a petrol engine but there's a wider rev band to use.
Supercharger makes it feel more progressive when accelerating as opposed to turbo where it is more on and off.
I think the 5.0l Supercharged is a peach of an engine that is perfectly suited to the Range Rover whereas the turbo power is perhaps better suited to the more sporty Cayenne.
If you like low end torque and pulling power, you are perhaps more of a Diesel fan.
Former Porsche CEO, Wendelin Wiedeking, told journalists at the Cayenne launch in the early 2000's when asked if there would ever be a Diesel powered Cayenne: no because with a Porsche engine the fun starts where it ends with a Diesel engine: at 4,000 RPM. He got sacked later because it wasn't a very commercial statement and the majority of Cayenne's sold these days are powered by a VW Group sourced Diesel engine to people who haven't got a clue what a true Porsche is about.
Same happens with people who buy an Evoque and think they are driving a Range Rover.
Evoque is a very good car in its own right but a Range Rover it isn't!
Please accept my apologies for going off-topic.

I am close to getting a 2014 VSE, the ad says that it has adaptive dynamics, miss this not standard on all L405s? - the first post implies that this may not be the case.

Adaptive Dynamics is the name for the adjustable dampers, Active Roll Control is what the TDV6 doesn't have.
