A bit of poor design I believe

I picked up my lovely 2010 vogue at the weekend, and then embarked on the three week high intensity 'what do all the knobs and twiddly bits do?' course. Should end up with a PhD at the end of it I believe Laughing

Monday was brilliant sunshine when I took it out for a spin, and a design failing immediately became obvious.
In bright sunshine it becomes impossible to read the touch-screen. It is especially bad with all the finger marks on it. In my previous Beemers the screen is set back quite a way in to the facia, so it is always shaded, so this problem rarely occurs.
If Landrover are reading please take note.

Also I'm not convinced on the whole touch screen proposition as opposed to a knob near the gear selector, however as there is little room for one I can see why they went the TS route. I'm sure I will be used to it by the end of my course. Confused

congrats on your new acquisition Thumbs Up , but is there maybe a contrast setting that might make the screen more easier to see.. ... - .- -.

It a bit of a desgn problem, I've noticed the same in mine.
Reflection of the sun on the touchscreen renders it unreadable until you shield it with your hand.
Fortunately it doesn't happen too often.

I have got tints on mine, they are not factory but they match my factory ones from the last car, so I guess it is down to the skill of the fitter..... Land Rover Addict

Must say I checked my touchscreen in full sunlight and it was very visible, did you try to adjust the brightness from the screen menu? Even if I set it at -3 it is bright enough…

The problem only showed itself when the sun was shining in the passenger window at a lowish angle. That way it reflected off the screen front and finger prints and swamped the screen illumination.

It's not about the match, it's about the heating elements... Personal taste though... Thumbs Up
