It seems to be an antidote for the keyless locking fiasco which allows tea leaves to unlock the car witha remote gizmo.

The KVM is becoming 'Read Only' and therefore if you lose a key, the whole KVM needs replacing as well as the keys. Land Rover will pay for the cost of the KVM and the customer pays for the keys and programming.

Very positive enhancement really. Covered under Q491. Not sure why it wasn't thought of before!

My vehicle happens to be in at Listers today for some other warranty work and so I mentioned this. The service manager rang JLR and they said it was not available yet as it hasn't been released and could give no date as to when it might be. They were very scathing (apparently)of the BBC for publishing the article before the release has been confrmed.

Mine was booked in to have this done but was then cancelled because apparently the fix has the side effect of randomly shutting the car's systems down!
