Yes you can ask for a text, and it's premium. My mot garage calls me up to ask if they want it booked in. But you can just set a phone alert. A month before etc.
no doubt there's an app, 'number of sleeps till MOT'
I think a lot of people rely on a service to carry out mot work, and they often call you to remind you etc. but yes, you don't get a posted reminder.

Most decent garages will remind you (to drum up business)

but yes, you can install the AA app on your phone, it lets you store the MOT, tax and insurance renewal dates and reminds you. Or as you say just set your own reminder in the calendar function.

Have a look across the water @ Ireland.

Tax rate for 2008 plus is 2,350 euro.

That's 1685 Pounds. Consider yourself lucky, that tax rate is with the car for life here.

Yes, but we also have to pay a tax called VRT.

It is based on the cars value including the tax. Tax on a tax really.

For the RR the effective tax rate is about 50% again on top the uk retail price.

I tend to find that the best app for that is the calendar and set an alert for 1week before it's due! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammerðŸ˜œðŸ˜œ
