Creaky Arse!

Hey all

Over the last week I've started to get a more and more louder creaking from the back end of the FF.
At first I thought it was a tight dry rubber, so gave everything a good soak with silicone. But have now come to the conclusion that it's coming from the N/S shock absorber. I've obviously got to Jack it up and have a proper look, but the creaking is beginning to sound more "mechanic" than rubber now.

Shocks arnt leaking but hey. Anyone else had this?
Are they the end of the world to change? I'd obviously change as a pair.

Cheers guys

Usual creak from the rear is an upper or lower hub bush, they creak like mad when worn.... could be the shocker but my money is on a hub bush..... Pete

Oh really? I've gotta have a proper look but is great to have a starting point!

Real stupid question, but is soaking them in wd40 or soapy water gonna shut them up enough to prove it's them? Or are they not just a rubber bush?

Cheers buddy Accept, some days your the pigeon, some days your the statue!

Mine does that a bit when it's been really dry for ages. Sounds like an old spring pram.

I cure it by driving up a grass verge from flat at an angle. The axle articulation seems to move the rubbers or whatever and it's silent again for 6 months or so.....

Just a thought....

Not sure wd would do much unless you can get the bushes in a different position, spray them, and the move back, if you see what I mean. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

The hub bushes are a rose joint (hiem joint) within a rubber gaiter... if they end up like mine then yes WD40 will stop them for a bit as the rubber was just about gone, but they could be worn and still have the gaiter in tact... Pete

Mine has also developed a squeaky rear but when I got SWMBO to bounce on the back bumper while I was underneath it was silent ! Confused All bushes seem solid with no play. Would a dollop of grease around them be beneficial ?

Made a cut in top and bottom bush gator and squirted a dose of white spray freeze in each. You should see the sh*t that came pouring out!

Gonna bite the bullet and change mine myself. Will cobble a bush puller together outa some threaded bar, large socket and some washers.... Oh and one hell all mighty air nut runner impact gun Wink

Cheers for all the posts guys

No, you can't grease anything, as I said, if the joints have got very bad and the protective rubber covering has gone, then a squirt of WD40 will shut them up for a bit, just to prove it's them..

There are no grease nipples so if anything is worn it needs replacing... Pete

Tel

To be fair there not usually too tight... the bolts on the other hand will be very tight, I snapped one... I'd get new bushes, bolts, washers and nuts.

Got mine from Dan at Duckworths and there not too bad price wise... Thumbs Up Pete
