HDC/ ABS Wheel Locking Fault

Hi Guys,

Abit of a strange fault. However I'm sure someone on here would have seen it before or hopefully confirm my suspicions. Fault is relating to my 6A Chassis TD6.

Was sitting at a set of lights the other day and as I went to pull away, it felt like the back left wheel was dragging, it eventually let go and then the ususal "HDC Fault" "Air Suspension Inactive" and Traction control light lit up. So I thought to myself it must be the left rear ABS Sensor is away. (had the off side front one go and error was the same, no wheel dragging)

However, the fault has since cleared on the dash air suspension etc is working (no iid interference etc) Although the brake still locks on from time to time pulling away, traction control kicks in and the brake pedal reacts like the ABS is kicking in under normal braking but with a weird "boing, elastic band noise" not the usual "duh, duh, duh, duh" if you get what I mean.

I'm still thinking it is the rear left brake sensor as it is also the wheel speed sensor if I'm not mistaken? so I'm guessing that the traction control is kicking in as the other wheels are spinning normally and not matching the speed sensor signal so it thinks they are spinning without traction? would also explain the abs like reaction as speeds aren't matching up under braking and speedo doesn't seem to match up to speed I'm travelling (well atleast in my head).

Any opinions welcome guys, thanks for reading

Mines an earlier one but pretty sure the system is the same...

I had to change a rear nearside ABS sensor and couldn't get an original one locally so ended up with a pattern one, it doesn't like getting wet, when it does it is doing exactly as you describe, it also, sometimes, takes out the speedo and the HDC EAS ABS bong up....

I checked the plug and it was bone dry inside so it's not water in there, but something is doing it....

I've got a new genuine sensor sat in the garage waiting to go on...

I recon your sensor is going bad and giving the same symptoms... if you do it yourself you will have to drill it out as they expand and seize in after a while...... Pete

Cheers Pete,

Last time I done one, I sued an Ebay number, lasted a week then got one from a local BRitpart dealer and never had an issue. Gonna get in touch with LR tomorrow, always fit my stuff so I guess I'm getting the drill out Very Happy why can stuff never come out as easy as RAVE says '55 Java Black Vogue

I heard a roomer that they glue them in.... I had to use a die grinder to make the whole big enough even after drilling it out, don't force it in, it has to slide in nicely, original ones come with a packet of grease...

Got mine from Dan at Duckworths.... wasn't much more than the pattern one... Pete

Sorted, screwdriver and hammer to get old one out and plenty of grease to put new one in and Britpart unit as good quality as LR on comparison. '55 Java Black Vogue
