Hi all

When I start the car from cold, I have started to notice a squeaky/chirp noise coming from the front, it gets less as it warms up, here's a video I took today-

Can't seem to identify it though..

I had the same on my '07 SC - if yours is the AJV8 engine I think it will be the same as its also been reported on jaguars too, apparently there is a modification for a FEAD belt idler pulley you can have done

I just sprayed silicone spray in the squeaky area when the engine was running (literally one quick press on the can) and it instantly stopped

had to do it twice now in 3 years but it works great.

Seemed to come back in the winter after a long drive on wet/salty motorway.

Yea thats the same noise I was getting - a 'chirp' ... More noticeable on cold mornings for some reason.

Just make sure you use silicone spray and not something like WD40 and if you can get it as quickly after start-up the viscus fan helps disperse the spray.

Check the condition of your belt too just to make sure its not damaged and that causing the squeak / chirp.

No need for fancy sprays, just spray some plain water on the belts to identify where the squeak is coming from

The TB linked above identifies where it is coming from, so only real 'proper' fix is to get the mod done.

Water onto the belt will only show what we already know, when it's dry it's gonna start chirping again.

A cheap (but long lasting and equally as effective) fix is to get the "fancy spray" (£5.99 from Halfords)
