Why replace it....................? IIRC it's only NEW cars that need them! Get the EGR's blanked at the same time. Engine will be slightly more powerful and use less fuel. Did it to my Defender when the cat on it rotted and that was 5 years ago, it sails through the emissions tests at MOT time. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Tim - can it be replaced with a standard? front box?? Will it matter the the engine management system??

I dont know about exhaust systems so any advise would be appreciated.

If i can get away with just replacing it with a Non Cat box - where can i get one from? CURRENT : FFRR 2012 4.4 TDV8

There must be guys on here who have had to do the same thing - my Defender had only the emissions sensor and no other ECU to doctor and the garage disconnected the sensor and removed the electronics to avoid problems later. The front box was replaced with a Britparts standard Defender exhaust front end. Have you tried asking an aftermarket exhaust centre about it you won't be the first customer with a BMW TD looking to remove the cat!? There's a lot of money in scrap cats because of the precious metals in them. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

I've removed cats on 3 diesel vehicles and never had a problem with them.

My local stainless steel exhaust chap cuts out the cat and replaces it with a lovely stainless piece of artwork Thumbs Up

Yes Scarey they are because of the precious metals used in them. In fact the price went so high a couple of years ago that crooked types were sawing them off from park cars! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes
