preventive maintenance with OEM or keep original?

Im about to change my rad on my 2003 petrol vogue since its leaking. And while at it i thought maybe il replace the waterpump and belt tensioners as preventive maintenance.

The question is: since the waterpump and tensioners are OEM (britpart) you think its better to run with the original stuff untill they break or swap them now when i have a good opportunity?
The reason i ask is that the car "only" have 67k miles on it and maybe the original parts last a little bit longer or you think its unwise to take a chance?

Is the OEM parts about as good as original land rover?

Thanks chaps! L322 Vogue 2003

I could be wrong (just ask my wife Laughing ) but I believe not all Britpart stuff is of high quality. Some of it is actually made out of margarine Whistle

I think you are misunderstanding what OEM means, it is Original Equipment Manufacturer

It means that the part was made for the constructor by those people, they had a contract to supply the original equipment and when that lapsed they are then able to sell the part direct...

So OEM is Original, just may not come in a "Land Rover" branded box/bag...

Pattern part is one made by another manufacturer who has just copied the design but not necessarily made it to the same standard...

Britpart sell very cheap, very poor quality stock, they also sell OEM as well, if it has the cheap stuff then it won't last long...

Personally I always try Dan at Duckworths as he is usually not far away from anyone else and you know the part will last... Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

And just my 2p but a waterpump and tensioner are not service items, mine failed at twice your mileage so I'd keep your money if I were you... better to change the gearbox oil.... Thumbs Up Pete

Go for a Hella Radiator and water pump - They are LR OEM parts. Avoid first line water pumps. I have had 2 go in 3 years!!

If the parts you have are in britpart boxes then i would assume they are NOT OEM sir... If the parts are in (for instance) a Delphi box and supplied by Britpart then they are probably OEM...

As a rule i WILL NOT fit any Britpart boxed part, as stated above they are inferior copied rubbish more often than not! Known in the trade as S.H.I.T.P.A.R.T... says it all really Rolling Eyes

My bad the waterpump was not britpart but kolbenschmidt and is an OEM part according to 4x4-island. The belt tensioners came in a britpart box but sais OEM part both on the box and on the website.

Thanks for your answers, i think il only change the radiator, coolant hoses and drive belts this time and save the waterpump and tensioners as future back up! Smile L322 Vogue 2003

And to confuse issues further I bought a Hella radiator in a Britpart box.
Some of the Britpart stuff is OEM, some isn't.
