Our previous one was an Ifor but a tad different to yours. The front unload upper door left ann edge hanging down from the roof when it was open. Not particularly big but there nonetheless - this was what I was referring to in my post.

I would still have an Ifor but I wanted / needed to be able to transport 3 horses / ponies on a regular basis and the Rice fit the bill. Now I have it there are a couple of things I prefer over the Ifor. The ride is a tad smoother (it doesn't jiggle over bumps the same when empty but I guess this is a well known criticism of the Ifor's suspension system which is incredibly tough and reliable) and the front unload is on the near-side & not the off-side.

I believe it can be ordered on the near-side which would be a potentially huge benefit. I really can't see why they put it on the off-side as it makes no sense in any circumstance I can think of.

Have ifor HB511, full front unloading, was able to specify what side when ordering....

Good to know about the Rice's regards internal size and carrying capacity.I have to agree about the ride on the Ifor's.They are very stiffly sprung and bump about quite a bit when empty..!

I like the look of Hudsons latest boxes,might have a look at them as colleagues not very impressed with there 511's so far.

Aren't the Hudson trailers made by Cheval Liberte? Or have they started manufacturing their own range?

Sure is a big can mind, I knew Ivor where good trailers as I have a 16ft beavertail and that rides great when loaded, but is a little skippy when not, but didnt think a horse trailer would be, its opened my eyes about them.

Im not even going to go for any Ivor horse trailers by reading what the views are here, but really like the one close by us and Rice trailers.  If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

Friends who have horse boxes on the road daily have complained the 506/511 is not as robust and that the body is not as strong anymore combined with latches and handles that break easily.It is also a "lighter" tow is the comment which speaks volumes as to build quality...

@RiccartonRR I do believe your right sir as regard Cheval Liberte making the Hudson trailers

I had a lm146g flatbed and it was a great flatbed trailer.I personally have found the I.W. build quality has gone down the last few years and that Hudson and Nugent have surpassed them.

My beavertail is old as the chassis a frame is very different to newer models, I guess its a 80's trailer, mind its worth its weight in gold round my place.......even if it only moving timber around now not the comp landrover!
