None of the remote unlock functions on the spare key I have for my Range Rover work any longer.
I have been told that the key battery is recharged automatically when the key is in the ignition, so there is no conventional battery to change.i would welcome any advice on my options here - can the rechargeable battery be changed or will I need a new key ?

My understanding is they're recharged when in the ignition. So the logical thing to try is to use it for a week or so to charge it up. If you're the only person that drives it then you can just alternate between the keys once in a while.

I have used the spare key for a week but despite this, the remote function failed to work.
The RR is under warranty, but before I go back to the dealer I would like to know whether it is possible to change the battery or if the battery has failed, a complete new key is needed. I should also add that the spare key appears unused so given I have an 08 vehicle, what is the likelihood that the battery has failed.

One problem that used to happen with old Rover's is if the remote had a battery change or was pressed several times when out of range of the car. The solution was to press the unlock button about 5 times to get the rolling codes resynchronised. I wonder if it's the same on the RR?

Just been out try the unlock button five times - sadly no joy.
Will call the dealer to get their view.

had this on the spare key of mine when I bought it ,took it to the local indy and he re sync'd it to the vehicle for me free of charge ,need to go back know as I want global opening  2007 tdv8 se ,stornaway grey

Thanks, that's jogged my memory. I had to reprogramme a spare key fob on another car a year ago. I will make some calls tomorrow and see if I can get hold of the re-sync routine.

Didn't get the resync procedure but did follow rangies47's advice and went to the dealer. All done under warranty and sure enough the key re- programmed ok. Both keys now work fine
