Scotland 2014 Range Rover Vogue SDV6 Santorini Black
What is wrong with this tyre?

First, the tyre seemed to be losing air slowly. Then, the car that this front nearside wheel and tyre belonged to was driving like it was on a square wheel and the vibration going through the car was incredible.

Removed wheel and tyre tonight and this is what I found (tyre was brand new main dealer fitted a few months ago and has only covered a couple of thousand miles).

Any ideas as to what's causing this?

Thanks.

Had it been whacked into a kerb head on? It looks like the bead or the cords sidewall have been damaged. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thanks for the replies and for sure, I knew/ know the tyre is U/S and it is already off the vehicle. I was just curious as to people's thoughts based on how out of shape it is as to what might have caused it as it has not been kerbed or subjected to any obvious impact (the outer facing/ wheel face aspects of the wheel and tyre are unmarked and look perfectly shaped).

Thumbs Up

IF you're SURE it hasn't been curbed or potholed get it back to the dealer as it is most likely a manufacturing fault , they will be interested as there may be a batch with the same issue , tyres should not look like that without accident damage or manufacturing flaws

The fact there are two quite obvious defects, almost 180 degrees apart, i.e. on completely opposite sides of the tyre would mean 2 impacts. So unless you've come across 2 kerbs about 18 inches apart I suggest that's more likely to be a manufacturing defect. It's hard to imagine any other explanation really so definitely take it back.

Hadn't noticed the damage was on opposite side as well. I would get the selling dealer to look into it as it is probably as Dom says it's probably a manufacturing fault. They should replace it foc, as it is a fairly new tyre! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
