Really Really :censored: Off

The moral of the story is, do not negotiate with a car you really love without putting a holding deposit on.

I was out today with my whole family, while negotiating with the sales guy the best price via e-mail...

We finally came to a price 30 mins ago, but 1 hour ago the car had been sold by another sales guy, My sales guy was unaware.

Please don't take the Censored , I'm not in the Censored mood...

And now I have to add another Censored thing to my wish list... Those seats... I set my heart on that car and actually feel devastated after months of searching...

At the mo, I don't have the heart to trawl all the range rovers adds again...

fed up big time.

So sorry for you iTlad, another one will come along in a few days as there are plenty out there, as you know. It also shows a lack of communication within the sales team at the dealership your were using, although you may also find that the other party offered the full asking price after reading your posts on here as a lurker/ guest. Just keep a low profile and ask questions by PM for the next one and surprise us all when you have purchased the car of your dreams 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

lesson learnt...

I'm not being a girl or anything, but feel a bit upset really.

This sort of thing happens fairly often. Never assume that you are the only person negotiating a deal on a specific car at that moment in time, as dealers would be silly not to review all 'offers' before accepting. We had three people in the showroom last Saturday negotiating over the same RRS.... On that occasion all of them were unrealistic as to the deal we could do. We sold the car on the Monday, and since then all three of the Saturday visitors have been back in touch and dissapointed that it's gone. To be honest there is no fair way other than saying that it's sold once we have a deposit and signed order.

I think the issue here is that it's Saturday and generally that's a dealerships busiest day, so more chance of multiple customers looking at the same car. As you are so specific about what you want (don't blame you in the slightest), then I'd find a car and ask to leave a refundable deposit on it subject to viewing it. Once you get there then you're bound to be able to find something to negotiate about, just ensure it's confirmed as refundable.

Jez and I are still on the case and see this as a challenge to find something that ticks all the boxes for you (don't spose you've relaxed your exterior colour to include Buckingham Blue?). We check LR and Lookers group stock daily.

Don't give up, something will come along.

James Thumbs Up

Thanks guys...

James, I have definitely made up my mind about the black one, but now I really want those leather seats too, I set my heart on them.

keep looking please because as you know, I would prefer to buy from you.

If I knew what I know now, I would be picking it up next Saturday.

Its a Censored itllad. I looked half heartedly for a few weeks before ramping up to a full on search.
There are much much much worse things can happen, I know painfully only too well, keep perspective, it's only inert metal.
A car will appear and if it is lookers do his holding deposit.

-f I had been an hour slower then my car would have gone to england to another forum member who was a tad gutted - sorry mate!

Bummer! Sad Crying or Very sad Big Cry

...maybe it wasn't mean't to be Rob - I have said it before and I notice it has been said again, the right car is out there and you will know when you find it (or rather, it finds you!)

I am not trying to to be funny - it took me over 6 months of dicking about and deliberating to decide upon buying and find my first L322, then after a couple of years (whilst it was in for a routine service) I bought my second L322 within 15 minutes of seeing it and the spec was nothing like I thought I would go for - its just the way it goes with these vehicles Whistle ...

...at least you know exactly what type of seats you want now Wink

One other thing itlad - you are better doing the verbals rather than the keyboard for things like this, there is too much of delay with email.
Better still to press the flesh when you find one to get the deal
