You've either got the wrong fluid in the gearbox and that's leaking or it could be from the power steering or red coolant..

It is watery looking. It's been looked after by an independent LR specialist. I'll take another look when it's not raining. |

Probably coolant then - they run with red anti-freeze |

there are a couple of pipes at the back of the heads that can fail apparently.

If it's towards the front of the engine tray, check the power steering hoses.

OK thanks for the info. The radiator has been replaced a year or so back. I had a look under the hood this morning and nothing obvious. Again, it looks like I will be taking it in somewhere.

Passenger side at the front, coolant reservoir, take the top of slowly, then a little rod should pop up and show you the level... if it was a decent leak the FF would have bonged at you anyway and displayed "low coolant" so it won't be much of a leak... Pete

Thanks for the info. I'll have to have a look under the hood again when the rain has stopped. I can't re-call seeing anything like that. I know on the right at the front is the windscreen washer reservoir, then to the left of that, I believe the oil filter housing. Will take another look, mine has had the 2006 facelift so some things where I expect them to be around the headlight area are not.

Just another thought ... it's not lightly to be auto transmission fluid is it? What colour is that? |

As in my first post, if it's got the wrong oil it could well be red, it should be engine oil coloured....

Thanks guys. I think I found the source and it does indeed look like its coolant. I noticed when looking from above the engine that at the bottom of the engine tray on the right, there is a build up of the pink stuff;

1. Yes, look at the diagram drawn on the top of your coolant tank, it shows where the round bits in the float should be with the coolant at the correct level.
