Trans fail safe prog :(

Had my 02 td6 for 6 weeks now and done 3.5k miles almost faultless.

Came out one morning after 2 days not driving to a completely dead battery. Figured I left a light on so just charged it. However ive noticed if I dont drive it for 1 day, the next day it comes up with "hdc inactive" on first start up then goes away.

Today I was doing alot of running round town with short 2 minute trips between stops. Second last stop it did the "hdc inactive" thing again. Then on the final start up i got "hdc inactive" then "trans fail safe prog".

It seemed to be locked to 4th gear as it was slow setting off and revving far to high for 70mph.
Used to "jiggle" slightly at 30mph ( like being a gear to high in a manual) and it stopped doing this.
When stopped but in drive and on the brake it also used to vibrate slightly and now that has stopped also.
In manual mode it just stays locked in 5th (on the dash) , but its defiantly not 5th from my short drive at 70.

Can this be caused by a dying battery or do I have a far more serious fault?
Gearbox was replaced at 105k, at 152k now.

That baby should sort it, it's amasing the faults you get with low voltage, check the GPS DVD in the boot switches off, they are a known problem, open the rear passenger side compartment, shut the boot and lock the car, the red light on it should go out after about 16minutes, if it doesn't it will drain the battery... also the FSR can drain the battery, have a look in the WIKI for details...

And at just over 50,000 on your recon box I'd be thinking about an oil and filter change for it.... Pete

What oil and how much do I need to change it? A Land Rover mechanic told me that you can only half change the oil or something?
