LPG tank in spare wheel bay. What to do with the spare wheel

Answered.

Put it in your garage/cellar. Fit road tyres with Oko tyre sealant as used by the British Army. This is put in BEFORE you have a puncture so no deflation takes place. The army had one case of a land rover tyre having 70 punctures in it and still not deflating. I had this fitted a year ago and still going strong. it costs about £10 per tyre.

Army vehicles drive on UK roads and it used by a lot of commercials so I guess it is legal.

I have a disco spare wheel (make sure you have the correct wheel nuts) in a canvas cover in the boot. The cover has velcro to stop it sliding, and there is plenty of room in the wheel for the sprinter bottle jack, jump start cables, gloves, tow ropes and shackles etc.

Not as infallible as you make it sound. I was once riding through morocco with 7 other motorbikes on the way to Dakar.
Only one bike had tyre sealant, and it was the only bike to suffer a puncture, twice. Oh how we all laughed.

Me, i have LPG and don't carry a spare. I have a "stop & Go" tyre plugging kit and a small compressor. Used it on my old merc estate, far far quicker and less faffing around than fitting the spare.

Steptoe - OKO is different from normal sealant. It isnt just a slime or foam that aims to congeal in the hole - it is actually full of fibres and flakes that plug up punctures good and proper. I've used it on rideon lanwmower tyres in thorny areas and it works very well indeed.

As for me - I have a D3 spacesaver in a bag in the boot. Still working on the best corner to tuck it into for maximum boot space NW060

OKO got in trouble with it's advertising a few years ago, making outlandish promises that didn't stack up Very Happy .

I remember OKO from the late seventies and due to the examples i've seen in all my years in the industry take all the promises with a pinch of salt. Very Happy
