not sure , but you can check the tyre and it will normally have 'outside' or similar written on the sidewall.. ... - .- -.

There are lots of different scorpions, summer. winter, AT's etc... it will clearly say on the side wall if they are directional or asymmetrical, or have an arrow to show tread direction, or "outside" on them.... Pete

Had to chuckle since a month ago, I thought I was losing the plot on this one! Confused (as have many others on many other forums!) - just Google the question!

I even ended up e-mailing Pirelli to ask!

On my L405 my Pirelli Scorpion Verde All Seasons have an "Outer" marking - they are not directional

But my Michelin Latitude Alpin LA2s "winters" have a directional arrow

Pirelli humoured me by explaining tyres can't be asymetric (inner and outer) and directional!

(Except for rare examples - some Ferraris' have a tyre for each corner!)

The AA site gives the simplest explanation:

Now I can worry about something else!

Then they're asymmetric, but not directional. You can put them on either side of the car. The 'outer' and 'inner' only really means anything to the tyre fitter. It just means the outer goes on the outside (visible) side of the rim.

Thanks that's great, it's just when the alloys are lined up next to each other they are all identical so was a bit confused as thought they would be handed

as keithg934 said, it's only really exotic stuff that has handed tyres. They usually make Range Rover tyres seem like a bargain.
