Just been trying out the remote adjusting of the car height using the key fob which is meant to aid hooking up/ unhooking trailers and the like (I don't have a tow bar by the way) and was surprised that it raised the car quite a bit above the normal off road height? To check I wasn't imagining it, I got in the car and set it to off road, then, turned the hazards on, got out of the car (shut the door) and then proceeded to raise it quite a few inches more. Assume this is to allow for a 3 tonne trailer hitched up and so enabling you to re-level the car? I'm also not sure if it goes lower than the access level aswell, I'll have to get a tape measure out and check  Steve

How do you do that ?

I had to use a bottle jack last week trying to hitch a trailer - it hitched OK, but still had weight on the jockey wheel - which I needed to release.

Raising the height would have been perfect

Sequence is:
1: Start car
2: turn on hazards lights
3: exit car and make sure all doors are shut
4: to raise car up: hold down the 'headlight' button on the key fob and press and hold the 'unlock' button at the same time
5: to lower car: hold down the 'headlight' button on the key fob and press and hold the 'boot unlock' button at the same time. (not the door lock button which isn't used at all).

I noticed when raising/lowering, it goes up a certain distance and stops, so you then do the 2 buttons together again and it then goes up further. Just keep repeating the process. Steve

That would have been so much cooler than borrowing a jack

or

engine running

open drivers door

press up on air suspension

get out, open rear door, close front door,

then close rear door and walk around to the back, vehicle will continue to raise leaving hands free to lift the trailer hitch handle

the latter part can be tricky to do if your two hands on the remote to get it to lift.

Dont forget the vehicle has two heights above off road height 2 - extended and super extended, the latter user selected. this means the suspension has the ability to go higher than 'normal off road height' which most people forget. Cheers

So does max 30 inch (or so) wading depth apply at off-road height?

If there are two further levels (extended and super extended) which are above o-r height, is it possible to increase height from inside if things start to go somewhat damp?

Would hanging out of the pano. roof work, with fob in hand, be of any value?

I do have a trailer, but this post has set me thinking

I heard from a LR experience instructor that the L405 wading depth was set to 900 mm because of that was the level where the vehicle's water deplacement was starting to affect wheel traction. Going deeper could have it to drift away due to lost traction. Anyone who can confirm this? Supporter and maintainer of EDF - Mrs Edfors' shopping cart.

all LR wading max wading heights are set at the use selected off road height.

if you have wade sensing you will see the wading height change as you adjust the vehicles suspension height, both the water level and the max levels will adjust.

Extended and Super extended only hold for 90s, they only way you can invoke Extended is to ground the vehicle.

ref the 900mm that is a lot of water displacement, they will drift away with far less in a strong current. i believe its more to do with air intakes and vital components but floating would also become an issue and give loss of traction yes. another reason to select something on TR to preload the centre diff! Cheers

which prob means they dont know but it was a contributing factor.
