Hi

I bought mine with a colour coded roof. The dealer said it was factory fitted (which I am convinced it wasn't) - they will say anything for a sale! It looks OK though and certainly gets admired.

I'd leave the pillars but the mirrors look tidy either way.

my fatty came with colour coded pillars and although I didn't notice it at first ive come to hate that look, others with black pillars look so much better. My mirrors have chrome caps which is a pleasant and cheap way to hide and paint damage .

im looking to turn back into black pillars , will I need to strip the paint off?

Just take them off and respray them , just mind the clips are a bit sensitive  ====================================

IF I was to go with black pillars then I'd do the full roof black as I think it looks a bit daft having colour/black/colour but that's just me

Decisions decisions.......This decision is a lot harder than I first thought!!

Thank you to every body that has given an opinion. I am so glad I have a spare set of A/E pillars so I can change back to black if I hate the colour coded.

I realise that it is a personal choice, but it is a difficult one. I think I am getting so confused now I cant even understand my own logic - I like the look of DannyH's silver Range Rover which has been colour coded, but I don't like the look of Vipers silver Range Rover which has been colour coded....Work that one out!!

I will add some photos when she has been kitted out.

In response to viper, just give them a light sanding to take the shine off and give the new paint a key and then spray them again with whatever sheen of black you like (gloss/satin or matt.) Dan

Viper, I am sure it is the camera angle - its the only thing that makes sense!

IMO the contrast of the black bumper trim on Danny's makes it look different. Can't see if vipers is colour coded or just the light making it look like it is. 2011 (MY12) 4.4 TDV8 Vogue

no they are defo colour coded , honest , not makimg it up. I don't think any amount of light bounce or camera angle could make a black pillar look silver

thought about doing that but rattle can paint will soon start to peel off after a while and look terrible, am I better in stripping the paint back to the black plastic

viper, think he means the rubber bit on top of the rear bumper that is black on mine mate - can't tell if yours is black or not. Definitely just the angles though, I'll try to get the same angle as yours this weekend and then see.

You could always try plastidip mate, then if you end up not liking the black you just peel it back off to the silver underneath.
I did the celica in white in august 2013 and only just needed to peel it off last month, came off easy with no damage to the original paintwork - did damage the bits that I'd only just recently painted before I sprayed the dip on it but that's my own fault not the products.
