SWMBO has decided that she doesn't want her new Mini sitting outside in the frost and has taken command of Tilly's garage

So today I did a little shuffling to make sure Tilly would be snug and dry during the winter months.

Truth be told the garage Tilly is/was kept in was built about 60 years ago and has no damp proof membrane under the floor, the radiator does help to keep it dry but there is always a certain amount of dampness on the floor during the winter which does concern me.

I now have the perfect answer, the new garage is completely dry, warm and is opened regularly which allows air movement around the vehicles. The only down side is if I need to use the ramp I will have to do a bit of shuffling of vehicles.

You wouldn't be envious if you had put in the work I did to get to this stage, 21 months of blood sweat and tears, sleepless nights, cracked ribs, aches and pains, hours of researching to make sure I did everything correctly, arguing with the planning department, with the environmental health, with suppliers (they were the worst)

On the plus side it was a great learning curve, solving problems caused many nights of lying in bed thinking, working out in my head and then in the wee small hours I was up and back to the computer to try a different approach.

Would I do it again....no, been there and done that, it's a tough game and nothing like these mamby pamby DIY programmes they show on telly where you build your own house from the remains of the ruins of a sewage treatment plant.

This is the first winter that it has been completed and I am looking forward to enjoying the fruits of my labour

I too am in love with 47p2's garage. I'd give my left for that and most folks think my garage is enviable.  The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

Four times i have hired out a Transit to empty it John , Frigging wife just keeps filling it up with anything and everything .........

There are only a few of my things in it like power washers and the odd toolbox and ladders rest of the junk is hers ...........

There is a simple rule for the garage....


Keep women out

And when i go to clean it out she find's me something to do in the house as her war cry is ............

"It's a Garage nobody see's in it"
