Did the adjustment in the suspension feel sportier or just spoil it?

I just came from a Cayenne Turbo so the floaty feel from the SDV8 us very obvious and perhaps adding a tuning box to get a more focused ride might suit me well? Not wanting flat out mega power, perhaps a happy medium.

Thanks

Carl

You need to buy a Sport, not a tuning box.

I wanted the FFRR, the Sport wasn't the one I liked and I like the L405 a lot, I just wanted to know if a slightly flatter ride would be experienced or if its just spoilt?

Suspension effect

Hi,
The effect of the tuning box was very much as if the suspension setting had been switched from 'comfort' to 'sport'. Not seriously firm like you can have in something with lowered suspension and firm shocks but noticeably less cosseting than the standard luxury limo ride. I would say that it does resemble the same ride comfort as the current RR Sport.
I do miss the power increase and most noticeable acceleration boost the Blue Spark tuning box provided - if there was a remote switch-able option available I would buy one tomorrow and enjoy the opportunity to have a mad blast when the urge occurred!

The BlueSpark guys were very helpful and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend their product and service - try one and if you don't think it hits the spot just send it back. Fitting took 5 mins.

Blue Spark are 15 minutes from me so I will give them a call.

I never tried the new Sport because I wanted a FFRR, I think the ride of the Sport sounds like a good compromise between handling and comfort so adding a tuning box and getting a slightly harder ride would be ok for me with my L405 SDV8?

Thank you for the feedback.

Where are you plugging thee boxes into? Are they dedicated Engine tune boxes or the cheaper alternative that just tells the sensor its colder outside then it really is? What price are these boxes sir?

Done, i did have a 2010 S/C last time I was on here.

Cant afford an L405 S/C yet, £15k out of budget still.

Tuning Box Connection

The Blue Spark box I referred to connects into the fuel rail pressure sensor and is specifically programmed for the vehicle - it is not a cheapy Ebay generic box and costs approx £200 for the Pro model I fitted - see their link below

I spoke to them about the Pro + which also controls boost, its a bit more but sounds more like a traditional remap type tune as opposed to just altering fuel sensor readings.

I'm considering it if the suspension is flattened out a bit too, if it doesn't, I may not want to keep it Whistle

Seems a backward approach given that none of these issues should be present if the tuning "box" worked as it should.

Don't know how spring rate changes with ride height (are the air springs tapered like they used to be?) - Startech (and probably others) do a lowering module which presumably has an impact on body roll and ride. Otherwise you would be looking at electronically changing the adaptive damper stiffness and/or body roll via the ASBS system - don't think there is anything available for either of those.

I hate to break it to you, but that is essentially a cheap tuning box, being sold for lots of money, and made to look expensive

And I for one, would certainly not recommend it on an £80k+ car Shocked

Over and above this, the claims seem very, very optimistic. An extra 100bhp, and 180Nm of torque

The gearbox has an input torque limit of 700Nm. I expect the gearbox would not last very long either

SDV8 torque is 740Nm now - no idea if the gearbox is uprated, or if they've decided it's within tolerances. Fully agree about tuning boxes.

I expect the gearbox is protected by limiting torque in lower gears and during shifts by the EMS. Some mighty colossal increases being promised and the gearbox will have a hard time.

Slightly off the 'ride' topic but how does the tuning box remove the lag at junctions? Clearly at very low revs there is no turbo boost available.
