There are occasions where the vehicle will be semi overt, and require the fitting of roof mounted light bars. They attach to the roof bars.

All makes sense then. Now, why do these cars always run on smaller wheels, usually 18".

Cheaper to buy and harder to damage ?

You'd imagine so, but here's one on 22"s - maybe they've got Lil' Wayne or Jay Z in the back:



That one doesn't appear to have the full complement of blue lights so may be something different, although I noticed the one Prince William left the hospital in yesterday had 21"s.

Wheel size probably just depends on what LR let them have the cheapest. I mean style probably isn't high on the list of purchasing requirements.

ok so we've done the roof rails, now what do they tow with it? (it has a tow bar fitted in that pic)

The tow bar is fitted for when you need to ram a following vehicle that's what we were shown on my course in the army
