2002 V8 coolant hose on top of engine?

Hi forum, my introducing post here:http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic31647.html
So after removing my engine cover I noticed this:

Can anyone explain to me why these coolant hoses would be positioned like they are?

If they are hot water pipes it looks like it's had an LPG kit on it and someone has been lazy when they took it off...

Where is the pipe joined to the car, can't see in the pic.... Pete

It is a wind up... Rolling with laughter I don't suppose it post-LPG because there are no other signs the car has ever driven on LPG.
Here are some more detailed pics.

Looks to me that someone has just used some standard hose to replace the PCV hoses rather than the orrect shaped ones

...and then pinched one and kinked the other when he replaced the 'hide the bodge' cover!
those hoses to replace are only about £15 each I seem to remember. maybe a little more for LR genuine
