Windscreen wipers

OK, I'm on my 2nd set of new blades form the main dealer. They're just as crap as the last lot, leaving lines everywhere.

I've cleaned the screen with a claybar and still the wipers are junk.

So, has anyone found the new Aero style blades to fit a FFRR please? Gotta be better than the standard ones.

I know they can be had for the D3 & RRS. No dealer option on FF though.

Thanks

Dom

Have you adjusted them to the correct angle? There is a post somewhere on how to do it, or the procedure is in Rave. The main aim of the game is to stop the clunk as it reaches the end of its travel, but maybe yours are lifting slightly?

The last set I bought were "Britpart" and were actually better than the genuine ones in terms of quietness and quality, but they didnt look great.

The problem you'll find as i'm sure you're aware is the completely bespoke fitting clip which means no normal wiper will fit.

One other note, have you seen the winter blades? As winter is upon us i'm considering a set as last year they kept freezing solid and wouldnt bend to the contour of the screen...

There is a kit made by a small company in the US that adapts the aero wipers to the RR. It's a tad late for me this evening - alarm goes off in 6 hrs and I'm still online Rolling Eyes . If nobody else come up with this I'll look tomorrow.

That said, I'm not unhappy with my new wipers. Are your arms putting enough pressure down? The shaft mount is aluminum and the wiper arm stamped steel so there is a lot of corrosion potential there - and a binding arm that does not put any pressure on the wiper.

I modified my wiper arms and a set of halfords aero blades to that I now have aero blades bolted onto the arm.

Took a bit of work with a dremel to modify the wipers, but they work a treat now.

Can the wiper arms of a disco not fit the RR? I was looking at them the other day and they dont look too different. V8 or else ...

Thanks for the replies chaps. Looks like I'm not the only one then.

DO, what's this 86 degree thing all about Shocked Can 4 degrees really make all that much difference? Oh well, best try and find a protractor.

Cheers

Dom

Found it.

and a you tube vid too. Rolling Eyes Everything is on you tube these days. Good thing you weren't asking about condoms...

Fitting song. And no Censored slapping sounds to be heard Razz

BTW, the shim and all is fine, but to get the adjustment right on mine I didn't bother with hole lengthening or the like - I did it the old fashioned way by twisting the blade on the arm to bend the arm. Wipers always needed to be at about 90deg - back with mere cars we didn't worry about the remaining 4deg...
