I was watching them as they would have been worth a punt to try and lubricate the brackets.

I think these deployable side step brackets are comfortably the worst engineered part of any car I have ever owned; I have had to replace 3 now which have been subjected to absolutely no impacts, they just shear where the metal is too thin for the load put on them. Useless. and they are £200 a piece!

Not to mention that if you want to just lean into the car and retrieve something, like a phone for example, you open the door and as you lean in the damn step gets you on the shins.

Was thinking of taking a punt myself at £50, but not a any more. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
